Description:
E4 The Stockholm bypass – Förbifart Stockholm – is a new route for the European highway (E4) past the Swedish capital. It connects the southern and northern parts of the Stockholm County, relieves the arterial roads and the inner city of traffic and reduces the vulnerability of the Stockholm traffic system. To minimize the impact on sensitive natural and cultural environments, just over 18 km of the total of 21 km of the bypass link are in tunnels.

Technology:
The excavation will be conducted by technology Drill and Blast. Tubers will be reinforced with sprayed concrete of 0.2 meters thickness with scattered steel fibers. Some places long rock bolts of 3-5 meters will be necessary.

Additional information:
Skärholmen and Sätra tunnels are the first working tunnels of the southern bypass branch. The length of the access tunnel Skärholmen will by 640 meters, 125 meters of which forms part cut and cover. Sätra tunnel will be 518 meters long, its cut and cover part is 82 meters. Cross-section of the tunnel has a total area of approximately 75 square meters. Contract also includes construction of harbor for mucking ships.
