Tunnel Svrčinovec
Highway tunnel. 2014 - 2016
Highway tunnel. 2014 - 2016
Construction period:
2014-2016
Project type:
Highway tunnel
Location:
Svrčinovec, Slovakia
Description:
The Svčinovec tunnel is a T/-category unidirectional twin-tube tunnel, which is designed for motorway traffic. For safety reasons, the tunnel tubes are interconnected by two cross passages. The total lengths of the left tunnel tube and right tunnel tube are 445m and 420m respectively. The basic net height of 4.5m is increased to 5.2m in the center of the profile. The entire profile of the tunnel is tilted. Longitudinal ventilation is designed for the tunnel. There is an obstacle the tunnel must overcome. It is the ridge of Košarisko Hill (617m a.s.l.), which is found north of the town of Svčinovec. The tunnel overburden height varies from 6 to 27m. An invert is designed to be built throughout the tunnel length because of the relatively highly squeezing character of the rock mass.
Technology:
NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method): Sequential method - drill and blast, Mechanical excavation.
